Matching Gifts

Find out if your organization has a matching gift program and double your gift today.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Gift Matching is a corporate giving initiative in which an employer matches their employee’s contribution to a specific cause, increasing the gift e.g., if an employee donates $50 to an organization, the matching gift from their employer would be an additional donation of $50. The organization would receive $100, thanks to the employee and the company they work for.

To find out if your company has a matching gifts program please enter your employer’s name below. If your company does not come up, contact your human resources department. Your gift may still get matched!

Gifts of Stock

Donating your shares of stock can be one of the most tax-effective ways to give to your favorite charities.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Direct gifts of stock or other securities are simple and are often more advantageous for you than an outright gift of cash. Giving the stock directly to the Legion of Christ, donors may take a charitable income tax deduction for its mean fair market value on the date of the gift and avoid capital gains. Donations of stock or securities can be made in a trust, in your will, or as an outright gift.

Donor Advised Funds

A simple, flexible, and tax-advantageous way to support our priests and seminarians in their mission.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A donor-advised fund acts as a charitable giving account for you or your family. You can contribute an array of private or public assets that extend beyond cash to a DAF, including gifts of stock, real estate, cryptocurrency, private equity, mutual funds, retirement assets and more. Opening a DAF takes three easy steps: Make a tax-deductible contribution; grow your donation, tax-free; grant when you are ready.

When recommending a gift to the Legion of Christ from your donor-advised fund, please use the legal name, federal tax ID number, and address listed below.

To ensure proper gift crediting and use, please email us about your gift recommendation for the Legion of Christ at sauger@legionofchrist.org

Legal Name: Legion of Christ, Inc.
Address: 10 Mansell Ct E, Suite 100, Roswell, GA 30076

Planned Giving

A simple, flexible, and tax-advantageous way to support our priests and seminarians in their mission.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Estate planning is an issue that few of us want to address, but it may be one of the most important things you can do to protect your spouse, children, and the causes you support. More than 64% of all Americans do not have an estate plan; the lack of a will or estate plan means they have no way of ensuring that their wishes are followed and intentions fulfilled. By making your estate plan, you can ensure that you decide how care or the needs of your spouse and family members, as well as remember causes and charities that you hold dear.

There are several ways you can remember The Legion of Christ in your estate plans. Many of them can help you and your family.

Consider these Planned Gift options:

A charitable bequest is certainly the most popular and enduring planned gift. Bequests are a favorite with donors because they are a gift planning strategy that gives you the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy while retaining full use of your property during your lifetime. With a bequest, there is no disruption of your lifestyle and no immediate out-of-pocket expense. You will not earn a charitable income tax deduction during your lifetime, but your estate will receive an estate tax deduction for the value of gifts left to The Legion of Christ.

Here’s some sample language you can use to help define your intentions. As with all legal documents, please consult an attorney who can assist you with the exact wording for your bequest.

  1. Specific Bequest

Bequest of a Specific Dollar Amount

I hereby give and bequeath $_________ (DOLLARS) to The Legion of Christ, Inc.

Bequest of Specific Personal Property

I hereby give and bequeath __________________________ (DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY) to The Legion of Christ, Inc.

Bequest of Specific Real Estate

I hereby give and devise all of the right, title and interest in and to the real estate located at __________________________________ (ADDRESS OR DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY) to The Legion of Christ, Inc.

  1. Percentage or Residual Bequest

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to The Legion of Christ, Inc.,   _____________________ (ALL OR A PERCENTAGE) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate.

  1. Contingent Bequest

If __________________________________ (primary beneficiary) does not survive me, then I hereby give, devise and bequeath to The Legion of Christ, Inc., _____________________ (DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY).

When you designate The Legion of Christ as the beneficiary and owner of a whole-life policy, there is an income tax deduction available to you.

Use our legal name (The Legion of Christ, Inc.) and our Federal Tax ID number (06-0923895) and simply contact the insurance company to request a Change of Ownership or a Change of Beneficiary form.

For additional information about supporting The Legion of Christ through a planned gift, contact Stephen Auger at 203-685-0568 or e-mail sauger@legionofchrist.org.

Giving Your Qualified Retirement Plan

You can also name The Legion of Christ as the beneficiary of your 401(k), 403(b), IRA, Keogh or profit-sharing pension plan or other qualified retirement benefits. Making The Legion of Christ the beneficiary of your qualified retirement plan can result in a transformational gift to the Legion and a significant tax savings for your estate and heirs.

You can make a gift from your qualified retirement plans by simply calling your plan administrator and requesting a “Change of Beneficiary” form. You will continue to retain the use of the plan during your lifetime. Consult with your tax advisor regarding the benefits of making this gift.
